So, I hear you want to adopt a cat from Whisker Wishes Rescue...
Congratulations on taking the first step in opening your home to a pet in need!
We are excited to work with you! We have an interest in ensuring that animals placed in a new home will be in that home for life.
Please review our adoption procedure listed below.
Please be aware that not everyone who applies for one of our cats will be approved.
To ensure the safety and well-being of the cats, we have certain criteria that must be met for someone who adopt one of our animals.
WWR's goal is to adopt cats into safe and loving forever homes.

Complete an application.
Please be willing to share some details about your home and lifestyle so we can match you with an animal that will enjoy the things that you enjoy. If you are interested in adopting one of our cats, please fill out the adoption application form completely

Conduct a phone Interview. Once we receive your application, we will begin the approval process and contact you to schedule a phone interview with a member of WWR.

Review our adoptable pets
and meet them at our local adoption events. We do ask that all members of the family participate in this process.

Consent to a vet check
- this just means that one of our staff will confirm that your current and/or previous animals receive basic veterinary care such as a rabies vaccination (required by law), basic vaccinations and are spayed/neutered.

Provide confirmation
that you are allowed to own pets at your current residence. This can be accomplished by speaking to property management, rental company, or homeowner’s association - or providing written documentation.

Home check.
Before an adoption is fully-approved, a WWR staff member will conduct a home check. Home checks are designed to ensure the safety and well-being of the animal, and, as such, are not optional. Adoptions
will not
be approved without a satisfactory home check. We will be checking for: the cat's interaction with current pets, visible pet hazards inside the home, living arrangements provided for the cat (e.g., litterbox, cat tree, food/water access, etc.), and secure doors/windows.
- Adoption Fee and Adoption Contract
- lastly, adopters must agree to and sign our adoption contract and pay the appropriate adoption fee. Adoption fees help off-set our cost of care we provide during their stay at WWR. Our adoptable cats are all spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, de-wormed, and microchipped.
